It takes more than the right shoe size to fill a pair of boots at Port Hardy Fire Rescue.
Do you have what it takes?

Port Hardy Fire Rescue was established in 1968, and since its establishment has relied on local men and women to answer the call, day or night, when an emergency happens.

  

Today, 50 years later, the equipment has changed, firefighting has evolved, and the training has improved, but the need for dedicated members remains the same.

​

With a volume of 175+ calls per year, two stations, and six apparatus, Port Hardy Fire Rescue is the busiest department on the North Island.  New members are always needed to help maintain the fire protection needs of the area.

WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR BOTH FIRE HALLS.

All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and legally employable in BC, have completed high school, possess a valid Class 5 BC driver's license and have a means to get to and from the hall, be willing to submit to a criminal record check, and be available Thursday nights from 1900-2100hrs.  Previous firefighting experience not required.

** Please speak to the Fire Chief regarding minimum qualifications for the Junior Firefighter Program.
